About Googility
I created Googility in July of 2008 because I was frustrated by the results returned by regular search engines when looking for agility terms. Click the links to compare results for "A Frame" using Google with Googility. So I took the web sites, blogs, and individual web pages to which I've referred over the years and entered them into a Google Custom Search. This customized search engine limits its searches to pages only on those sites, giving much more useful results for every search I've tried.
Community Support
I soon found that there are many agility related web sites and it would be a full time job to inspect them all and categorize them correctly. So I wrote this version of the site to allow anyone to add sites and update the information on existing sites.
Just like Wikipedia, all edits and additions are moderated and changes are not applied to the database until they are approved. This is to prevent mischievous people or spammers from putting inappropriate sites or information in the database. As new content is added Google automatically updates its search engine, so searches are always up to date.
I'll also continue to add new sites and individual pages to Googility as I learn of them. If you know of a useful site or even a single page that doesn't show up in the search please add it. All changes and additions are moderated, in case spammers attempt to abuse this open policy.
Technology
Googility was developed by Steve Schwarz using the Django Python web framework. Web search is performed using the Google Custom Search Engine (CSE) API. The map search feature is implemented via the Google Map API. The website information is stored in a PostgreSQL database and is used to "feed" the CSE and the Map APIs.
